Great little tutorial which allows you to double yourself (or whatever you want really) in a picture. Well written and easy to follow, expect to see some examples of this on the site… soon as I finish the Bonsai design (see last post).
Today I was inspired to draw.
Well, strictly tonight, technically this morning…
Anyway. I quite accidentally found this Twitter style tutorial and decided I wanted a twitter icon of my own, that would go with the colours of my new design. However, I don’t use Adobe Illustrator… or whatever. Just Open Source programs.
Tweeting the way I like it
So out came Inkscape, off ran an hour or two of my time and I produced this.
After a relatively (for me) short period of time tinkering with it, I decided I didn’t really like the way the eyes and cheeks were done in the original article so went back to my more cartoon-like style (seen in my previous doodles.. keep your eyes peeled for when my portfolio goes online).
Actually, I’m pretty pleased with it. I could’ve spent much longer tidying it up, and I probably will go back to it and do just that, but I’ll write up a tutorial to go with when I do.
For now, it’s just gone half three in the morning… and I should really sleep.

Recently I’ve started to use the fantastic service offered by Jamendo.
Basically it’s a website/torrent service where bands from all over the world can publish their music and make it completely available to anyone registered on Jamendo; to stream the music online or download and listen at their leisure.
There are some great bands on there and I’d thoroughly recommend their service to anyone who, like me, seems to have lost their drive to find new bands and new music.
One such great band that I’ve found in the short time I’ve been registered is Shearer with their album Eve specifically.
But you don’t have to go to the site to listen, thanks to their widgets I can put them on this page!
Just a little example of what can be easily achieved using only free software – not bad for an hour or so’s work!

Well, after a bit of faffing (pottering to you or me) I’ve settled on WordPress for my portfolio for the time being. It’s simple, gets the job done and allows me some time to polish all my templates and make them WP ready. Who knows, if I can clean them up in time I might enter one into my web hosts little competition on their forum. So for now, thanks go to Scott Wallick of plaintextblog for the simple theme currently in use. Nothing worse in my opinion than a bog standard install with Kubrick left on. So lazy!
Spelling and Grammer…
OpenOffice.org 3.1 New Features
A new release of openoffice and with it a host of tweaked or new features. One of the aspects to recieve a bit of attention is the grammar checking. It still requires a grammar checker to be installed (easy with extensions) but now operates in a far more intuitive way. You can check spelling and then you can check grammar. Just as a good Word Processor should be.

Started playing with Flock again recently. I dabbled with it while it was in its infancy a year or so ago and boy has it come on since then! The integration of the most popular social networking sites is brilliant, seamless integration with facebook, twitter, flickr, delicious bookmarks, digg, myspace (well… I suppose some people must still use it).
I think a review is shaping up in my head already – watch this space!
This site will always look better in firefox. In my humble opinion it’s the most reliable web-browser – throw nearly anything at it and it will just keep ploughing on regardless. This said, I’m not very good at just sticking to firefox, my urge to fiddle is too strong.
For too long now I’ve worked on too many little projects, snippets of code and web designs to really stay sane.
A few months ago I was assaulted at work. It has been a crap time in all honesty but if I can take one positive thing from the experience it is that I need to get organized. I really do love working at Plonkers (who wouldn’t want to work at an off-license called that!?) but it’s not what I want to do for the rest of my life.
